New public procurement rules come into force on 26 February

New rules governing public procurement covering public contracts is due to come into force on 26 February 2015.

In a Procurement Policy Note the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) said the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 were laid in Parliament on 5 February and will apply to new procurement exercises commenced on or after 26 February. There are a small number of exceptions to the deadline listed in the regulations, this includes requirements around the use of e-procurement, which come into force on 18 April 2017.

“Contracting authorities should now complete their final preparations for applying the new rules as soon as they come into effect,” said the CCS.

The other directives covering utilities, and concessions are due to come into force in the summer and April 2016.
